It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Oh, yes, I know. It’s a cliche. But that song’s been playing through my mind for two days!

Yesterday was the annual Santa Claus Cookie-making day. My grandmother (95) has been100_0407.JPG making Santa Claus cookies for over 60 years, using The Santa Clause Cookie Cutter. I mean THE cutter. Her cookies are legendary anyway. People from all over have raved about them, she used to make dozens and dozens and dozens. Graham cracker fruitcake cookies, ranger cookies, fudge marshmallow cookies, oatmeal cookies…but the absolute iconic cookie Granny has always been famous in these parts for is her sugar cookie, and at Christmas, the ones shaped and decorated like Santa.

So yesterday, Mom, Granny and I set everything up and got to work. This might sound funny, but the weather was perfect for it–overcast and cool. Somehow, it just sets the mood for making Christmas cookies better. Our little assembly line turned out the treasures like nobody’s business, Santa cookies for everyone! Toddler was amazed. She let out a little two-year-old whisper, “Wow!” when Mom took some to Brother’s house.

100_1085.jpgAnd today, Mom braved the ice and rain to bring us some Milky Way Cake and Haystacks. Toddler stayed with me today, because her parents thought the daycare might close in the midst of worsening weather. We’re supposed to get quite bit of snow by morning, so I might get lucky and get to keep her tomorrow, too. Anyway, Toddler is so full of energy! Whew! And she’s so funny! I don’t know what this little guy did, but every time she comes over, he gets a spanking and put into time out!

    Have a great Christmas week!

The cookies look good, but the way I’ve been scarfing down treats these last few weeks, I don’t think many of them would’ve lasted to go anywhere else.

Dear April, I want to thank you for your bloggy friendship this year. I hope you have a great Christmas, you and your man, and little ball of Mini Doxy LOOOOOVE, too.

    Love,
    Bonnie
